Obituary: Martin Lipton, 85

Martin (Marty) Lipton died peacefully at his home in Boca Raton, Fla. on Saturday, Dec. 26 after being in frail health for years. He was 85.

Born in Brooklyn, he raised his family in Valley Stream and Baldwin, then retired at an early age from Richmind-Way Drug Stores and began a second career as an art dealer at Lipton Galleries with his wife. A natural athlete, he loved softball and tennis.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mimi; his children Wayne (Karen), Mindy Wexler (Kenneth Small) and Richard (Ellen); his brother Archie (Lucy) and sister Barbara “Bobbie” Broslaw; and his grandchildren Matthew, Daniel, Andrew, Zachary, Jordan, Adam, Sarah Douglass (Michael) and Alex.

Private graveside services will be on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at 11 a.m. at New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon. Shiva will be observed at the home of Karen and Wayne Lipton.
