Reunion for SSHS class of ‘70

Members of South Side High School’s class of 1970 are invited to a 39th reunion on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11. The festivities are set to begin at 7:30 on Oct. 10 at MacArthur Park Bar, 1 Maple Ave. and the next day, from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the Best Western Mill River Manor, 173 Sunrise Highway. SSHS Alumni Association meeting

The South Side High School Alumni Association invites all alumni to a general meeting on Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in room 120 at South Side

High School. 

Hewitt Fair

The fair, on Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. through 4 p.m. is a great event for the entire family. It’s a day filled with games, prizes, food, raffles and more. The fair supports the school’s children and PTA. It’s held on Hewitt Elementary School’s lawn at the corner of Hempstead and DeMott avenues. (The rain date is Oct. 25.)

South Side High School Homecoming

Oct. 24. The event includes starts with a spirited parade, starting at noon as athletes, musicians and competing class floats march up Long Beach Road, followed by a varsity football game with the Cyclones playing West Hempstead at 1:30 p.m.. Refreshments, merchandise and activities for the whole family during the game
