The Phillips House Museum in Rockville Centre embraced the festive spirit of the season on Sunday, Dec. 3, when it opened doors to the community for a heartwarming holiday celebration.
Visitors of all ages gathered together inside the 19th century Victorian home, where they were treated with an array of holiday delights. The event featured several holiday-themed crafts for kids, which they were able to take home as fun, festive mementos.
With the chilly winter days approaching, the warmth of hot chocolate offered patrons a delicious respite from the cold. During the open house, the musical trio, Her Saving Grace, also greeted visitors with a musical performance.
The timeless tradition of Christmas caroling brought members of the community closer together. And at the center of the living room sat a beautifully decorated Christmas tree adorned with vintage, handcrafted ornaments and old toys.
But the real highlight of the event was of course a visit from the big man himself — Santa Claus, who made a magical appearance to enchant the crowd. Taking on the role was Tom Rakeman, who took the time to make sure everyone was having a good time.
The holiday open house event has become a memorable tradition in the community, combining the wonder and joy of the holiday season with the rich tapestry of the village’s 130-year history.
