To help embrace the Halloween spirit, the Rockville Centre school district encouraged students, teachers, and staff members to come dressed up in costume on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

The spooktacular festivities began in the early morning, as all five of the elementary schools gathered outside of South Side High School for the annual Halloween parade. The parade was a fantastic way for students to showcase their costumes. Whether they were dressed up as superheroes, witches, pirates or their favorite TV and movie characters, the creativity on display was astounding. The event also encouraged students to think outside the box, to express themselves through unique handmade creations or group-themed costume ideas.

Everyone cheered as these little ghouls and goblins proudly marched in front of the high school, before returning to haunt the hallways and classrooms of their respective schools. Even the older students and faculty joined in the fun by getting dressed up in colorful costumes.

The camaraderie and support really helped reinforce the idea that the public schools are meant to be more than just a place of education—they are also a place of togetherness, where students go to learn, grow and create lasting memories together.
