Rockville Centre arrested for robbery

A 16-year-old Rockville Centre teen has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a 17-year-old Rockville Centre youth that took place near the Fantasy Theater, 18 North Park Ave.

Police said that the victim was standing in the alley south of the theater on June 27 at 9 p.m., holding his LG mobile phone, when he was approached by the 16-year-old. The suspect allegedly punched the victim several times, grabbed the phone and ran west through the alley. Police said there were no serious injuries resulting from the encounter.

The victim went home and later, accompanied by his father, stopped by Rockville Centre police headquarters to report the robbery. A police source said the victim knew the suspect from school and officers arrested him a short time later at his Rockville Centre home.

The suspect was charged with third-degree robbery and was arraigned on June 28 at First District Court in Hempstead.
