People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Attempted robbery

On March 15, a female from Brooklyn told police that while at Front Street and N. Park Avenue, she had a verbal argument with her ex-boyfriend that escalated into an attempted robbery of her property.

Burglaries

On March 16, a resident of Princeton Road reported to police that someone entered his home between Monday March 15 at 11 p.m. and the next morning at 6:45 a.m. and stole property and money.

Between 3:40 a.m. and 3:50 a.m. on March 21, someone damaged the front door lock at Stogie Cigar Warrior Lounge, 86 S. Long Beach Road, activating the audible alarm, but not getting in. Nothing was stolen.

On March 21 between 10:30 p.m. and 10:40 p.m., someone entered Gloria’s Express Deli, 142 S. Long Beach Road and stole approximately $1,200, phone cards valued at $4,000, $1,000 in cigarettes and a TV/VCR. Exterior security cameras allegedly show two men drilling the side door lock and committing the burglary.

Larcenies

On March 15 a woman from Maple Pointe Assisted Living, reported that between March 11 and March 12, someone took $3,900 from her purse.

On March 16, a Princeton Road resident told police that two vehicles parked in the driveway overnight were entered without permission and property including vehicle registration and a men’s watch were stolen.

On March 17, a man from Merrick reported that between 2 and 9 p.m. his 2007 BMW, parked in a Hempstead Avenue medical building parking lot was damaged and that a GPS, sunglasses and a thermos were stolen.

A Rockaway Avenue resident told police on March 19 that someone stole her pocketbook containing credit cards and $600 while it was left unattended between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. in the back room of the barber shop on Merrick Road where she works.

On March 19 at 11:30 p.m., a S. Centre Avenue resident reported to police that while she was near Lincoln and S. Village avenues, a man wearing a black hooded shirt tried to grab her bag from her shoulder. He got nothing and ran away.

On March 22, a Fountain Avenue resident told police that between March 21 at 3 p.m. and March 22 at 9 a.m., lacrosse equipment was stolen from her front porch.

On March 20, an Earle Avenue resident told police that between 2 a.m. and 40 minutes later, someone stole his walled with his driver license, credit cards and $93 from his 2003 Ford which was parked in front of 21 S.
