People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrest

Andrew B. Griffin Sr., 42, of Hempstead was arrested on March 29 and charged with petit larceny at King Kullen on Sunrise Highway.

Larcenies

A manager from Morrissey GMC on Sunrise Highway told police on March 21 that someone entered its rear parking area through a hole in the fence and stole four wheels valued at $4,000 from a GMC truck; damage to the fence was reportedly valued at approximately $500.

A resident from Rockaway Beach reported to police on March 21 that someone stole her pocketbook from an office at 53 N. Park Ave. The alleged thief returned the pocketbook when confronted, and was said to have possibly fled in a car waiting for him outside.

An Arlington Avenue resident told police on March 22 that someone stole his T-Mobile Curve cell phone valued at $300 from an unattended bag during a gym class at South Side High School.

A S. Centre Avenue resident told police on March 25 that someone stole his Rawlings baseball glove valued at approximately $130 while he was at South Side High School.

A resident from Oceanside reported to police on March 26 that someone damaged the rear passenger side window of his 2003 Lincoln and stole a fire department scanner and an iPod Touch while the car was parked at TGI Fridays.

A Lakeside Drive resident told police on March 27 that someone entered his parked 2000 Mercedes-Benz and stole $60 cash.

A Glen Oaks resident reported to police on April 1 that someone stole the fog light housing from his car while it was parked at King Kullen on Sunrise Highway.

An employee of Lakeview Mercedes-Benz on Sunrise Highway told police on April 3 that someone stole 12 car tires and rims from cars that were parked in the parking lot of the business.

Attempted larcenies

Three residents from Crocker Street reported to police on March 27 that someone entered their parked cars; there were no items reported missing from the cars.

A Lakeside Drive resident told police on March 27 that someone entered her parked 2000 Buick; there were no items reported missing from the car.

Unusual incidents

A Lakeview Avenue resident told police on March 22 that someone called him under false pretenses and attempted to have him send $200 via Western Union. A planned meeting on N. Park Avenue was not attended by the unknown perpetrator.

A resident from Cumberland Street reported to police on March 25 that someone opened two credit card accounts using personal information and charged $1,911.38 at a Best Buy store in Pennsylvania.

A Westminster Road resident reported to police on March 26 that someone opened five credit accounts using his personal information.

A N. Village Avenue resident told police on March 26 that someone ordered five AT&T cell phones using his personal information.

Identity theft

A Westminster Road resident told police on March 24 that someone made credit card purchases of $229.98 and $3,404.71, plus additional purchases of $2,442.25; $948.47 and $2,013.73 using credit cards opened with the resident’s personal information.

Criminal mischief

A Buckminster Road resident reported to police on March 22 that someone threw a brick through a front window, causing damage valued at approximately $3,500.

A visitor from Philadelphia told police on March 26 that someone damaged the driver side window of her 2007 Infiniti while it was parked at TGI Fridays.

Property damage

A Lenox Road resident reported to police on March 23 that someone damaged the front end of her car while it was parked in a parking lot.
