Rockville Centre Crime Watch - March 25, 2010

People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrests

Derrick Joseph Pelzer, 41, of Detroit, Michigan was arrested on March 10 and charged with two outstanding Nassau County warrants for grand larceny and criminal mischief while at Rockville Centre Police Department headquarters on Maple Avenue.

JeanPhilippe Day, 29, of Buchanan Street, Freeport, was arrested on March 10 and charged with possession of marijuana and vehicle traffic law violations after police say they saw him operating a 2007 Honda on Sunrise Highway.

Oswaldo R. Rivero, 19, of George Place, Oceanside was arrested on March 12 at 3:53 and charged with possession of marijuana and a vehicle traffic law bench warrant after police say they saw him smoking marijuana near Cleveland Avenue.

Burglary

On March 10, a S. Kensington Avenue resident told police that between 8:30 a.m. and noon, someone entered his home through a basement window and stole jewelry, a check book and a Social Security card.

Larceny from auto

On March 10 a Springfield Gardens man reported to police that his 1994 GMC car, which was parked on Merrick Road was entered and $45, credit cards and an external hard drive was taken without permission.

Larcenies

On March 10 a doctor from Kew Gardens told police that a patient of his stole prescriptions from his Merrick Road office. The prescriptions were reportedly filled out without authorization and presented to a Valley Stream pharmacist for Percosets in the name of the subject.

The next day, police were notified that prescriptions from a N. Village Avenue office were also taken without permission.

Assault

On March 10, a 17-year-old girl told police that she was assaulted by three female acquaintances in front of her N. Village Avenue home.

Criminal mischief

On March 14, the owner of CD island on Merrick Road told police that the store window and a neon sign were damaged by someone at 3:20 a.m.
