Wait for A/C

To the Editor:

Except for a few classrooms in the high school, Rockville Centre schools have never had any air conditioning. If we have to wait an extra year to assure that we will receive $180,000 in state aid for the A/C, then we must wait (“School A/C plan in limbo,” April 30-May 6). It is inconceivable to me that we have any second thoughts about waiting one year when we may lose $180,000.

Bucaria and Maher for library board

To the Editor:

We strongly urge the residents of Rockville Centre to re-elect Eileen Burke Bucaria and Andrea Maher to the Rockville Centre Library board of trustees.

We have known Eileen and Andrea for many years, and have worked with them on numerous community and school committees and projects. They are both innovative, hard-working and conscientious volunteers who have already shown their commitment to the library board in their years of service.

They have proven they are knowledgeable about what it takes to keep our library the wonderful resource it is. Our library has met the hurdles of funding cut-backs and challenging financial circumstances without cutting services or programs to our community.

Both of these women are creative thinkers who have worked closely with the library’s director, the Library Foundation and the Friends of the Library to support the mission of the library. We believe that it is through their leadership, knowledge and dedication that our library continues to flourish.

We urge you to re-elect them on May 19 when you vote at South Side High School.
