Rockville Centre Lions Club offering new performance showcase at annual Duck Race

Posted

Attention all singing sensations — the Rockville Centre Lions want to hear from you! The local chapter of the Lions Club will be introducing a new performance showcase for children between the ages of 5 and 18 at its annual Duck Race, which is scheduled for Oct. 2 from noon to 4 p.m. at Centennial Park at Mill River. (The raindate is Oct. 3.)

"So You Think You Can Sing!,” promises to be an exciting event and those selected to compete will perform in front of the hundreds of people who attend the Duck Race. It is being coordinated by Joan MacNaughton, the owner and artistic director of Leggz Ltd. Dance, and a member of the Lions, who is this year's Duck Race Entertainment chairwoman. Talented vocalists who are interested in performing at “So You Think You Can Sing!” should send a written letter to MacNaughton at 486 Sunrise Highway, Rockville Centre, NY, 11570. Please include the singer’s name, address, date of birth, email contact, phone number and vocal selection. All songs must be approved by the Lions Club for appropriate content. Performers will be limited to three minutes each and all singers must bring their own song CD to the performance. Song selection will be on a first come/first serve basis. If your song selection is already on the program, you'll have to choose another. The Lions Club will contact participants regarding the estimated time of their performance on the Duck Race day. For more information, contact Jeanne Mulry, also a member of the Lions Club, at (516) 857-1366.
