Rockville Centre Lions sell ducks for diabetes

Posted

Do you know a guy with a duck? The Lions Club does. From now through Kids Fest on Sept. 17, Lions Club volunteers will be selling ducks for diabetes, to raise money for various diabetes and sight-related charities. By buying a duck, you become eligible to win dozens of prizes, including electronics, games, toys and gift certificates at the Duck Pluck at Kids Fest. When you purchase a duck for $5, not only will you be entered into the Duck Pluck prize sweepstakes, you will also have your name posted on a Duck Wall of Honor.

How can you get a duck? This year the Lions Club is partnering with five local businesses that will be sell ducks on their premises. Leggz Ltd. Dance’s owner Joan MacNaughton will be teaming with Roe’s Casa Dolce at 486 Sunrise Highway to sell ducks there.

On Park Avenue, right in the center of town, you can purchase ducks at either Five Pennies Creamery, or across the street at Ralph’s Italian Ice. On the west side of town, ducks are available from Dr. Mike Russo, at his North Park Chiropractic office at 100 N. Centre Ave., Suite 202.

In addition, ducks will be sold all over town, and beyond, through the next few months by volunteers from the RVC Lions Club. Watch for duck sales on Front Street, in front of King Kullen, and other venues. For more information, call Mike Jordan at (516) 578-1984. Also, check out the Rockville Centre Lions Club website at www.rvclions.com, if you’d like to purchase ducks online.
