Rockville Centre Mayor Francis X. Murray, Deputy Mayor Kathy Baxley, and newcomer Gregory P. Shaughnessy were elected to the village board on Tuesday night in uncontested races. William Croutier Jr.  also won his re-election bid for village justice without opposition.

Murray received 590 votes in an uncontested election for his fourth consecutive four-year term in office. He was first elected in 2011, defeating then-incumbent Mary Bossart by a wide margin.

During his 12-year tenure, he has been instrumental in stopping aggressive ticketing after 6 p.m., improved relationships between the village and community services and schools, repaired local ball fields and worked to improve business downtown. He also served as the president of the New York State Conference of Mayors, representing more than 575 cities and villages.

Deputy Mayor Kathy Baxley received 611 votes in an uncontested election for one of two trustee seats. She was first appointed to the position in 2017, replacing the now Village Administrator Nancy Howard. Baxley won a special election in 2018 and secured her first four-year term in the regular election the following year.

Gregory P. Shaughnessy won his first election with 559 votes in an uncontested election for the trustee seat formerly occupied by Michael Sepe. He previously served as a member of the Zoning Board for almost seven years. Through his work with the board, he gained a unique perspective on local issues and concerns, particularly as they apply to zoning ordinances.

Justice William Croutier also received 610 votes in an uncontested election for his fifth term with the village court. He has also served as a special prosecutor for the village and as a deputy village attorney.
