Rockville Centre physician charged in criminal sexual conduct with female inmate

Posted

A Rockville Centre physician who has worked since 1998 for a private patient care company that provides health services in New York City jails, has been accused of criminal sexual conduct with a female inmate at Rikers Island.

Franck Leveille, 60, was arrested on July 28 at his office in Brooklyn. Leveille, who has been assigned to administrative duties since the allegation was made, was charged with engaging in a criminal sexual act — a felony — and sexual abuse — a misdemeanor — after he allegedly had prohibited sexual contact with the woman at 2 a.m. on March 28.

Leveille was accused of touching the inmate without her consent and engaging her in a criminal sexual act without her consent. The arrest came after an joint investigation by the New York City Department of Investigation and the Bronx District Attorney's office, after the Department of Corrections brought the allegations to light in March.

If convicted of the felony charge, Leveille would face up to four years in prison; if convicted of the misdemeanor, he could be

sentenced to up to three months in jail.
