Rockville Centre Police Department Lieutenant Chris Romance will attend the FBI National Academy beginning on Oct. 2.

Police Commissioner Charles Gennario, who referred to the program as the “Harvard” of police academies, said that Romance’s attendance would benefit the entire village department.

According to Romance, the third officer from Rockville Centre to attend, participation at the academy is by invitation only and participants are taken from throughout the country and also internationally. “The FBI National Academy is a professional course of study… that serves to improve the administration of justice in police departments and agencies at home and abroad,” Romance said.

The academy is a 10-week program that runs four times a year and possible courses include law, behavioral science and forensic science. “Graduation from the FBI National Academy is an achievement that all law enforcement executives hope to attain in their career,” Romance said.
