Three arrests were made on March 25 at businesses just over the Rockville Centre border in South Hempstead and Baldwin for selling alcohol to a minor.

The arrests were part of an ongoing undercover sting operation jointly conducted by the Nassau County Police Department and Rockville Centre Youth Officer Det. Michael Norwood, using an underage police agent to attempt alcohol purchases.

Arrested were: Shahnaz B. Kharoufa, 56, of Jeantt Drive, Massapequa, a clerk at the SH Delicatessen, 1131 Long Beach Road, South Hempstead; Chung C. Lau, 59, of 196th Street, Fresh Meadows, a clerk at Lange’s Liquor Store, 1336 Grand Avenue, Baldwin; and Eduardo Rodriguez, 45, of Rolling Lane, Levittown, a clerk at Path Wine and Liquors, 1750 Grand Avenue, Baldwin.

“We are grateful for the cooperation of the Nassau County Police Department’s First Precinct in this joint effort,” RVC Police Commissioner Charles Gennario said. “We will keep targeting these locations just over our border where underage Rockville Centre youths attempt to purchase alcohol.”

Rockville Centre Police report the locations of liquor law violation arrests to the State Liquor Authority.
