Rockville Centre Soccer League hosts 'Kids Teaching Kids' program

Posted

Consider it a local world cup- in training.

For six days in late July, the Dean Skelos Athletic Complex, located on Peninsula Blvd, became the go-to spot for budding soccer stars to develop and hone their skills. Hosted by Rockville Centre Soccer League, the annual “Kids Teaching Kids” summer soccer program — which ran from July 19 to July 22 and from July 26 to July 29 — gave the youngest soccer players an opportunity to learn and perfect the art of the game from their older, more experienced peers.

The evening program, which began in 1982, is geared toward kindergarten-age children who will join the RVC Soccer League in the fall season. However, many Rockville Centre residents brought children of all ages to take part in this popular event.

Former and current soccer players volunteered at the program, giving back their time and talent to assist the next generation of Rockville Centre soccer stars.
