Christopher Acheson, vice president of the Rockville Centre Chamber of Commerce, was named a 2017 Business Person of the Year honoree at the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce’s 33rd annual Awards Breakfast on Oct. 20.

Acheson, who moved to Rockville Centre five years ago, lives in the village with his wife, Meghan, and his sons Lucas and Dean. He studied liberal arts at Hamilton College and always had a love for business. At a young age, he owned and operated a landscaping and snow-shoveling enterprise. Passionate about business, in 2002 he started a financial planning company working specifically with businesses and executives.

While taking a holistic approach to accumulating and protecting wealth, he decided to create the Acheson Group, a team of advisors and staff assembled to solve most financial, insurance and employee-benefit-related questions. Their motto is, “We help people make informed financial decisions about their wealth so that they can maximize the probability of success.”

Grateful for an amazing group of Rockville Centre businesses and friends, Chris has worked hard to promote a positive community and economic growth. In his free time, Chris is a high school football official and can occasionally be found surfing on the South Shore.

Acheson is expected to take over as the chamber’s president next year. “We have a very vibrant Chamber of Commerce,” Acheson told the Herald. “It’s very active, and to be able to represent them is a tremendous honor.”
