RVC woman arrested for DWAI with 9-year-old in car

A Rockville Centre woman faces Leandra’s Law charges after an off-duty NYPD officer saw her driving erratically on the Northern State Parkway.

Lucitania Espinal, 33, was driving eastbound at 4:20 p.m. on July 8. She stopped at exit 41 at Wolf Hill Road in Dix Hills. The off-duty officer was able to detain her until a state trooper from the Brentwood barracks came. The state trooper arrested her and later found that she was driving while impaired by drugs.

Espinal had a 9-year-old child with her. The child was released to a family member.

Espinal was charged with Felony Driving while Ability Impaired by Drugs, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. She was arraigned on July 9 in Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip.
