South Side High School student named a 2011 National Merit Scholarship semifinalist

South Side High School student Maria Passarelli is a 2011 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist. Administrators at the school say that Maria is an extraordinary student who has excelled in the rigorous International Baccalaureate diploma program. She is a dedicated member of the Science Research program and has spent several summers conducting research at Rockefeller University.

Additionally, Maria is an active member of the Student Government, serving as the organization’s secretary and she is a talented and accomplished musician. Maria has also found the time to be involved in numerous other school and community-based clubs and activities.
