Taking over the reins in Rockville Centre

Posted

Village resident Ed Asip, right, was sworn in as the new president of the Rockville Centre Lions Club by outgoing president Bill Kurrus last month. Asip is a married father of three, a member of the Oceanside Kiwanis Club and the Knights of Columbus. He also donates many hours to the newly formed Rockville Centre Youth Council and loves to golf in his spare time.

With 45,000 chapters and 1.3 million members, the International Lions is the world’s largest service club organization. As a local organization, the Lions Club serves the unique needs of the Rockville Centre community and because it’s also global, it addresses challenges that go beyond village borders as well.

As “The Knights of the Blind,” the Rockville Centre Lions Club supports sight programs and services including: Vision screenings, eye banks and eyeglass recycling; eye care services to those at risk of losing their sight; diabetes education, treatment, research and early detection.

New members are always welcome. Anyone interested in joining can contact Asip at (516) 678-6335.
