Those attending the village’s 9/11 Candlelight Vigil on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. will have an opportunity to see three steel beams, believed to have supported the 48th floor of the South Tower, that will become part of a renovated Fireman’s Memorial Park on North Forest Avenue, which is currently under design by members of the Fire Department and other dedicated village residents. Plans for the park include a walkway that will lead to the steel beams. Construction on the renovation, which has received $100,000 from Nassau County Legislator Joseph Scannell, is expected to begin soon.

All residents and members of village organizations are invited to attend the vigil as a show of support and solidarity for the local families who lost loved ones. Participants are asked to bring candles.
