WHS Grad: Dropouts are not role models

Victoria Wehr, 18, will graduate this weekend from Wantagh High School, and she finds it troublesome that Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the youngest members of the infamous Kardashian family, are considered role models, despite the fact that they dropped out of high school.

The Jenners, both dropouts with the blessing of their mother, Kris, hosted Canada’s Much Music Video Awards on June 15. Kendall also said, “I’m the worst reader!” after stumbling over her lines at the Billboard Music Awards. Had Kendall stayed in high school, she would be graduating this month.

Wehr, 18 wrote a letter to the sisters about her personal accomplishments, stressing that an education is invaluable.

“Kendall, you’ve dropped out of school, and your life may seem a lot more exciting and fulfilling than mine on the surface,” Wehr wrote. “You’ve designed your own clothing line, ‘Kendall & Kylie,’ for PacSun, walked in New York Fashion Week, presented awards on TV and will now host an awards show.”

Wehr added that the sisters have missed valuable experiences that come with completing high school. “You’re not sending out a good message to young girls who are easily influenced by the things they see, by posting pictures of yourself topless or wearing risqué clothing,” she continued. “You could instead bring awareness to topics affecting teens girls like body image and eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia.”

Wehr is heading to St. Leo University in Florida this fall, where she hopes to study multimedia management and minor in art. Her goal is to work in the music business, and promoting concerts would be ideal for her, she said.

“From the outside, it may look like you have it all,” she wrote to the Jenners. “But come the end of the month I’ll have something you don’t have — a high school diploma.”
