Valley Stream finds new home for skate park

When plans for the Valley Stream Skate Park were announced in 2011, both the skateboarding community and village officials were happy with the new endeavor. Now, more than a year later, neither group is pleased with the current setup, and there are plans to move the park from the hockey rink in front of the Long Island Rail Road station to Hendrickson Park. more

Building a better skate park

Just two months after its opening, feedback is still pouring in about the Valley Stream skate park off of Sunrise Highway, near the Long Island Rail Road station. Several community members have expressed mixed feelings about the park, and village officials have begun to make some adjustments. more

Valley Stream Skate Park opens to mixed reviews

Skateboarders rode the rails and ramps at the Valley Stream Skate Park for the first time at its opening last Saturday. Though only a few early skaters gathered at the rink, on Sunrise Highway beside the village’s Long Island Rail Road station, the traffic picked up later in the day at a facility that local skateboarders said they couldn’t wait to see. more
