100 reasons to celebrate

Posted

It was a little later than normal this year, but Feb. 27 marked the 100th day of school in Valley Stream. Students at several of the community’s elementary schools, including the James A. Dever School in District 13 and the Robert W. Carbonaro School in District 24, celebrated the milestone day.

At Dever, kindergarten students counted 100 of various objects including blocks, Legos, beads and pennies, then gathered to sing a song, "How You Ever Seen 100?" written by their teachers.

Kindergarten students at Carbonaro also counted 100 objects while wearing special hats and glasses. Students from the school then paraded through the hallways.

The 100th day was delayed a little bit this year because of days missed due to Hurricane Sandy.
