The Valley Stream Fire Department responded to two separate fires at the same Buscher Avenue home Tuesday evening and again Wednesday morning, fire officials said.

Second Assistant Chief Gene O’Brien said the department responded to the first fire at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, which he suspected was caused by a basement tenant’s hot plate.

Firefighters responded to a second, more severe, fire at about 4 a.m. at the same house, the cause of which is still being investigated by the Fire Marshal.

“I’m pretty sure it’s getting demolished,” O’Brien said of the house at 126 Buscher Avenue, which was completely destroyed by the second fire.

No injuries were reported, and the house was unoccupied by the time of the second fire, O’Brien said, which took about an hour to get under control.

Neighboring fire departments in Lynbrook, Hewlett-Woodmere, Malverne and Elmont also responded.
