Fare said that Valley Stream has benefited tremendously from Vela’s three decades of service. “There’s nothing more important to me than volunteerism and community service,” Fare said. “People who volunteer are of a different moral fiber than those who do it for a paycheck. Why would you volunteer to be in the Auxiliary Police if you didn’t care? He truly cares.”
