Section VIII has announced the Nassau County High School playoffs for soccer, volleyball and field hockey will resume Thursday, Nov. 8, with the opening round of football playoffs taking place Saturday, Nov. 10.
The quarterfinal games for Class AA and A boys' and girls' soccer will take place at the higher-seeded team, conditions permitting, on Thursday at 2 p.m. The Class B boys' semifinals will also be Thursday, while the Class B girls' semis will be played Friday.
The volleyball courts will be busy every day beginning Thursday and lasting through the weekend. Class AA and A girls' first-round matches as well as the Class A boys' playoffs will be held at the higher-seeded team, conditions permitting, on Thursday. On Friday, the Class B boys' playoffs begin while the others will play second-round matches.
Field hockey begins Thursday with the Class A semifinals. The Class B and C semis will be held Friday.
The girls' swimming and diving championships will be held at the Nassau Aquatic Center on Friday and Saturday.
As for cross-country, the county championship/state qualifier meets, scheduled for last Saturday, will not be run due to the state championships being set for this Saturday in Buffalo. The Section VIII Athletic Council, in consultation with the county cross-country coordinators, agreed to use the Conference championship merged results from Oct. 27 to determine state qualifiers.
