A Haunted Hayride was one of the most popular events at the village’s Halloween Happenings program Monday afternoon outside Village Hall. Many participants didn’t expect the swamp monster who popped out from behind a tree.

The Valley Stream Recreation Department hosted its annual Halloween Happenings program at Village Hall on Monday afternoon. Children of all ages were invited to come by, in their costumes, for some candy, cookies and juice. Mayor Ed Fare and trustees Vincent Grasso and Dermond Thomas handed out goodies for the kids to take home.
"It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" was shown in the courtroom. One of the most popular attractions was the haunted hayride through the Village Green.
