Soldier’s Story
Old Bethpage Village Restoration commemorates the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War with its annual “School of the Soldier” program. Relive those critical days of our nation’s history as “soldiers” of the 14th Brooklyn, dressed in the uniforms of the time, demonstrate how the regiment prepared for battle in 1861, including marching, facings and manual of arms. The officers will also lead the men in company drills each day and conclude with a skirmish drill on Sunday.
Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. $10, $7 children 4-14, volunteer firefighters and seniors. Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage. (516) 572-8400.
