Blessed Sacrament School to close

Posted

A Catholic elementary school in Valley Stream will be closing later this year, the Herald has learned. The announcement was made on Jan. 11.

According to a release from the Diocese of Rockville Centre, Blessed Sacrament School will close at the end of the school year in June. The school opened in 1957.

The Diocese cited a decline in enrollment in the school. There are currently 157 students in kindergarten through eighth grade, plus 51 students in the pre-K and nursery school programs. The K-8 enrollment has dropped by 110 students since 2005, the Diocese reported.

The school is located on Rose Avenue and is part of the Blessed Sacrament Parish.
