Valley Stream Boy Scouts in Troop 109 advanced in rank and received merit badges at Grace United Methodist Church on May 27, with one Scout achieving his Life rank, or one step below Eagle.
Twenty-six Scouts advanced in rank during the ceremony, and 37 received merit badges that they earned in different categories. David Matos advanced to Life rank, the second-highest in the organization, and Dylan Roca advanced to Star rank, which is one below that. Troop 109 has a total of 49 Scouts on its roster.
