Posted

Calhoun High School singing sensation Robbie Rosen, all of 16 years old, recently received the news that he had waited for nine years to hear –– he’s headed to Hollywood to compete in season 10 of “American Idol.”

At his audition in New Jersey, Rosen of Merrick wowed judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler with his slow, but powerful rendition of the Beatles’ classic “Yesterday,” earning him an easy golden ticket to the singing competition that he said he had long dreamed of taking part in.

Jackson called Rosen’s performance “a breath of fresh air.”

Lopez said, “I like you … That was beautiful.”

And Tyler said, “Wow, beautiful.”

When Rosen emerged from his audition, he remarked with a smile beaming across his face, “I’m going to Hollywood, baby!

Did we mention that he also plays baseball for Calhoun, and as a sophomore, he helped his squad win its second county championship in the past nine years?
