Celebrating 115 years of the PTA

Excitement filled the air in Elmont on Feb. 9, as the school community gathered together for the Elmont Interschool Council of Parent-Teacher Associations’ 2012 Founders’ Day celebration.

The event was held to celebrate the 115th birthday of the national PTA, and honor a select group of teachers, parents and community members who have been dedicated advocates for the children of the Elmont Union-Free School District. The theme of this year’s celebration was “Celebrate and Remember PTA through Diversity.”

The Elmont Interschool Council of PTAs includes the Clara H. Carlson, Covert Avenue, Dutch Broadway, Gotham Avenue, Stewart Manor and Alden Terrace schools. For more information on the Elmont Interschool Council of PTAs, contact Karin Filippi at (516) 326-5550.
