Chiropractor, of Merrick, charged with sexual assault

A Merrick-resident and chiropractor was arrested on Oct. 16 and charged with sexual assault of a patient— for the second time in.

According to police, Douglas Dukofsky, 48, was conducting a routine appointment on Oct. 13 with a 42-year old patient at Valley Stream Chiropractic Wellness Center when he touched the victim inappropriately and without consent. After conducting an investigation, police arrested Dukofsky at his Merrick home on Monday.

On March 25, 2013, Dukofsky was also arrested and pleaded not guilty on charges on that he forcibly touched one of his patients on the genital region with a massaging device.

Dukofsky holds degrees from Stony Brook University and Life University College of Chiropractic and has an Advanced Proficiency rating. According to Dukofsky’s website, he is the founder and creator of a treatment called Structural Restoration, and specializes in curing pain from arthritis, whiplash, headaches, sports injuries, accidents and other causes.

Dukofsky is being charged with sexual abuse in the third degree and was arraigned in the Nassau County First District Court on Monday. Calls seeking comment were unsuccessful as of press time. He is scheduled to appear again on Nov. 1.
