A Valley Stream Central High School District administrator will assume a position with the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Nassau County, the agency announced on January 6.

Tracey A. Nekulak, of Carle Place, was named the new executive director for human resources. Nekulak has more than 28 years of experience in education, serving most recently as assistant superintendent for personnel and administration for the VSCHSD.

“Dr. Nekulak brings a broad range of human resources knowledge and a passion for staying informed about changes in this complex and ever-evolving field,” said Eric Schultz, Nassau BOCES board president, “which will not only benefit Nassau BOCES but the 56 districts we serve as well.”

Nekulak will oversee employee recruitment, retention and management for the agency, which has more than 4,200 full- and part-time employees.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to join Nassau BOCES and be part of an organization that helps school districts to provide so many crucial services to their students in a cost-effective, cooperative manner,” Nekulak said. “I look forward to working with the administration, faculty and staff, students, board members and community.”

Nekulak received multiple educational degrees from St. John’s University, including a Doctorate of Education in educational administration and supervision.  She began her career as a math teacher and spent 15 years working in the Carle Place Union Free School District. She’s also served as mathematics coordinator for West Babylon UFSD, assistant principal in Bellmore-Merrick CHSD and district director of instruction, grants and funded programs for VSCHSD.
