Adelphi University welcomes Canadian pianist Ian Parker, who will showcase his talent for the community, Saturday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m., at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center. The diverse program features works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Fryderyk Chopin, Alexina Louie, and Franz Liszt, and appeals to musically inclined audiences as well as first-time listeners. Selections include Beethoven’s Piano Sonata in C-sharp minor, Op. 27, No. 2, “Moonlight,” and Chopin’s Fantasie in F minor, Op. 49. Parker has performed in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Israel. He has appeared with many prestigious orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra, the National Symphony, the Buffalo Philharmonic, and the Toronto Symphony Ticket holders are invited to attend a free wine and cheese reception held at 7 p.m. Reserved tickets are $20, $15 seniors; available at (516) 877-4000 or http://aupac.adelphi.edu.
