Community shares some stories

Each class at Brooklyn Avenue School got a special visitor last week. The school hosted its annual Readaloud on May 16, in which members of the Valley Stream community shared books with students.

After gathering in the library for introductions and to get their reading assignments, the readers then headed off to the classrooms. The guests included District 24 Superintendent Dr. Edward Fale, Assistant Superintendent Dan Onorato, Curriculum Director Lisa Conte and South High School Principal Maureen Henry, who was able to meet some of her future students.

Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages participated in the event for the first time. Ken Heino from the Nassau County Department of Consumer Affairs and president of the Valley Stream Youth Council, returned to read again. Rounding out the group was several parents and PTA leaders, and other district staff members.

The event was organized by librarian Stephanie Cuozzo.
