Costumed dogs descend on dog park

Forty dogs competed in the Valley Stream Dog Park’s “Howl-o-ween” party on Oct. 31, with more than 100 people showing up for the event, now in its fourth year.

“We raised the funds we expected to raise,” said Richard Infield, president of Friends of Valley Stream Dogs. The group uses the money from its fundraisers to pay for improvements to the park, including the Eagle Scout projects it gets semi-frequently.

Two Scouts who did projects there this year — a message board and paving stones that made the park ADA compliant — were recognized during the party, Infield said.

Mayor Ed Fare and Village Justice Robert Bogle handed out prizes for the winning costumes.
