James Callahan III, the late Malverne deputy mayor and commissioner of the county Office of Emergency Management who died on May 26, was honored by relatives, friends and colleagues last month at a dedication held by County Executive Ed Mangano. Joining Mangano at the dedication of an OEM mobile command vehicle in Callahan’s memory were Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford), Malverne Mayor Patricia McDonald, Callahan’s widow, Malverne Trustee Patricia Canzoneri-Callahan, their four children and other relatives. “Callahan was a dedicated public servant who devoted himself to Nassau County and to keeping the residents safe and prepared in the event of a natural disaster,” Mangano said.
