District 13 seeks new facilities director

Posted

District 13 is looking for a new facilities director, following the resignation of Michael Palotta whose last day was Nov. 30. Palotta, the supervisor of buildings and operations, stepped down after 30 years working for the district.

He was hired in 1980 as a cleaner and became a custodian in 1984. Palotta was appointed to his current position in 1989 overseeing the elementary school district’s facilities.

Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Lison said it is a civil service position, and the district will select someone from that list. She said the new title will be supervisor of school facilities and operations. He hope is to do interviews soon and have a person appointed in January.

Until a new facilities supervisor is in place, Lison said that other employees in the department will pick up the work, with the business office taking on the clerical functions.
