Firefighters responded to an alarm at a home on Gotham Street on Tuesday. A fire started in the basement and spread before it was put out.

The Valley Stream Fire Department responded to a blaze that broke out in a Gotham Street home’s basement on Tuesday.
The fire, which occurred at approximately 9:45 a.m., was brought under control in about 20 minutes.
The Woodmere Fire Department, Hewlett Fire Department and Malverne Fire Department also responded.
