Former Valley Stream Mayor Minerva dies

Former Valley Stream Mayor Dominick Minerva died on Aug. 6. He was 71 years old.

Minerva was born in Brooklyn on March 9, 1941. He moved to Valley Stream in the late 1960s. He served on the Village Board of Trustees from 1971-75, then as mayor from 1975-79. During his tenure as mayor, Minerva worked to revitalize and improve the village’s infrastructure.

He was a partner in law firm Minerva and D’Agostino on South Central Avenue, next to Village Hall, and was residing in Lido Beach.

Survivors include his wife, Linda, sons Dominick Jr. and Matthew, and grandson Cole.

Visiting hours are Wednesday, Aug. 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lieber Funeral Home on North Central Avenue in Valley Stream. He will be buried at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
