Girl Scouts recognized for jobs well done

Valley Stream’s Girl Scouts are constantly out in the community doing good deeds, working as a team and also selling a few cookies every once in a while. On May 24, five Scouts took the first step in their respective new levels of the organization during the annual Bridging Ceremonies.

The year’s event took place at Holy Name of Mary School. Samantha Allen became a Daisy, Melissa Creekmore moved up to Brownie, Jasmine Cantos is now a Junior and Monica Ferrall and Natalie Piniero joined the Seniors. Also during the event, several other awards were handed out.

Troop leader Dawn Samuel said the event was a big success. “Because we make a big deal out of it,” she said, “it makes the girls feel like that it’s worth more; that what they do is really recognized.”
