Haunted firehouse a great addition

I am writing in response to a letter in last week’s edition of the Herald, “Save the scares for inside.” I am a member of the Valley Stream community and have been all my life. I, too, have a 3-year-old child who has also observed the sights in front of the Valley Stream Fire Department haunted firehouse display. 

I have been able to explain to my daughter that some things are not real and are only done for entertainment purposes. I think it’s great that in addition to being a fundraiser for the Valley Stream Fire Department, it gives local youth a place to go on weekends and Halloween rather then hanging around and getting into trouble elsewhere. The Haunted Firehouse is a safe and creative way to spend Halloween.
