With a week to go before Christmas, the Valley Stream village recreation department held its annual tree lighting ceremony last Saturday evening at Hendrickson Park.
Students from Central High School’s Tri-M music honor society entertained the crowd with Christmas carols, under the direction of Douglas Coleman. After the tree was lit, Santa paid a visit and took requests from children before heading back to the North Pole.
