Lions Club collecting food for needy

The Valley Stream Lions Club will be holding a food drive at the entrance to Key Food Supermarket at 1805 N. Central Ave. in North Valley Stream on Saturday, Oct. 5. Volunteers from the club will be accepting food between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Members of the community are invited to donate food, which will be used to assist needy families in the Valley Stream area. All items collected will be given to local food pantries.

Suggested item include canned fruit and vegetables, canned proteins such as tuna or salmon, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter (plastic jars), and

hot and cold cereal (packaged, family-sized).
