Hear some swinging jazz when the Long Beach Jazz Festival returns to the City By the Sea, Sept. 23-26. “We’re so excited that’s it’s the 8th annual event,” said founder and organizer Steve Adelson. “The Long Beach Jazz Festival, through the creative efforts of our organizers, has thrived and stands alone as the only local jazz festival.” The world renowned creative roster of players includes Bakhiti Kumalo Band, John Favicchia’s Dharma Allstars. Heather Parris Group, Steve Adelson, Rachel Z, Phil DeGruy, the Kerry Kearney Blues Band, a local legend, and many others. The Joe Deninzon Group will open the festival at Long Beach Public Library on Sept. 23. Events will be held Thursday and Friday nights, Sept. 23-24 and Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25-26, beginning at noon, at various venues in Long Beach. All performances are free.
