“Monkey See, Monkey Do” with The Wiggles

Posted

Get ready for a wild adventure with The Wiggles, when the beloved pre-school band visits Nassau Coliseum, Friday and Saturday. The fab four from down under are back with a new musical extravaganza that showcases old favorites as well as their latest hit, “Monkey Man, from their most recent album “The Wiggles Go Bananas”. The Wiggles, Captain Feathersword, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Henry the Octopus, Wags the Dog, and all the Wiggly Dancers invite their fans to join them as they “Go Bananas Live!”
The Wiggles, who celebrated their 18th year in 2009, are an enduring part of the lives of many children, through the characters they have created: Sam (Yellow), Murray (Red, Jeff (Purple) and Anthony (Blue).
The band members are always excited to perform for their young fans, and this year are more enthusiastic than ever about their live production. And, their audience responds with equal enthusiasm.
“This is a big production for us,” said Anthony Field, one of the founding Wiggles. “We have dancers, acrobats, gymnasts, and lots of slapstick comedy. The children get very involved and it feels like a circus atmosphere.”
Then, of course, there’s the music. “We’ll be singing songs everyone knows and wants to hear, plus new songs,” Field said.

The one hour and 25 minute show is thoroughly interactive. “We’re always asking for help with Dorothy (the dinosaur) and go out into the audience singing and dancing,” Field said. “The whole thing involves a lot of craziness. “It’s a lot of fun, and, yes, we are going bananas. We try to keep everyone entertained the entire time. It’s good family fun.”
Those in the know will yell “Wake up, Jeff!” whenever the lovable Purple Wiggle falls asleep onstage. And be sure to bringing roses, for dancing pal Dorothy the Dinosaur, and bones for canine comedian Wags the Dog, that The Wiggles and Wiggly Dancers collect during the show.
The Wiggles encourage families attending the upcoming performances to join them in supporting Reach Out and Read Programs by bringing a new children’s book that will be donated to a child in need in the area. For a list of recommended books, visit The Wiggles website – www.thewiggles.com.
