A man was struck by a car at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Rockaway Avenue early Thursday morning.
The incident occurred at 6:13 a.m., and witnesses saw police diverting traffic from Sunrise Highway to Rockaway Avenue as emergency personnel assisted the victim.
A member of the Valley Stream Civilian Patrol, who asked not to be identified, was at the scene and saw the man lying in the street. He said it appeared that the man was moving.
Police confirmed that the victim survived but did not provide any other information.
