Nearly 100 supporters joined Carrié Solages, 32, of Elmont — who is running for the Nassau County Legislature's District 3 — on Sept. 16, for "Campaign Soirée."

The event, held to raise awareness about Solages' campaign and promote networking among local residents, was held at Solages' home in Elmont. Residents from Elmont, North Valley Stream, Valley Stream, Floral Park, South Floral Park, Franklin Square and surrounding communities attended, including Town of Hempstead Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby, Hempstead Mayor Wayne Hall, and local legislators Wayne Wink and Robert Troiano.

Some of Solages' goals for the district are to implement better regulation of local tax dollars, and to promote environmental conservation and consciousness.

Solages, a Democrat, is running against Nassau County Legislator John Ciotti (R-C), who was first elected to represent District 3 in 1995, and has been re-elected seven times. Ciotti also serves as the deputy presiding officer of the Nassau County Legislature. Ciotti and Solages are both licensed attorneys.

In 2009, Solages ran for the position of Nassau County Clerk on the Democratic ticket, and was defeated by Maureen O'Connell.

District 3 includes Elmont, Franklin Square, North Valley Stream, Bellerose Terrace, South Floral Park, and portions of Valley Stream and West Hempstead.
